SIWES Report: Number of Chapters and Content in Each

As part of a trainee's effort to give his or her SIWES report the best shot, it is essential to understand the number of chapters that are usually a must in a typical technical SIWES report. This is a starting point, as the report must comply with the standard expected or recommended by the institution.

This post will not only answer that question but will also include what each chapter should entail.

It's important to reaffirm that, even though a few things in the SIWES report may differ among schools, such as the components of the preliminary pages (e.g., abstract, certification, etc.), in most cases, chapter structure and details to be filled there will usually be the same or almost the same. So, this post gives our all-time generally accepted standard for the SIWES report and its components.

Quick Reference to the Preliminary Pages

While the pages before the chapters may vary among institutions and available materials, the following are usually expected in most cases:

  1. Cover/Title Page
  2. Approval Page
  3. Dedication
  4. Acknowledgment
  5. Abstract
  6. Table of Contents
  7. List of Tables (if any)
  8. List of Figures (if any)
